Transition Training for Local Authorities

The following training is available from the national network of Transition Training and Consulting.

What is this? Transition Local Authorities is a ½ day workshop that is designed to engage your officers and members with the benefits of becoming a Transition Local Authority. We will explore how to work with the Transition Initiatives in your area. It also provides you with an overview of the enormously successful Transition Towns model and practice, and an interactive engagement with some core Transition tools including a peak oil ‘master class’.

What are the benefits? This workshop identifies ways in which you can work with Transition Towns to deliver your services better and more cost effectively, as well as fostering a truly vibrant community engagement model. A part of this session is devoted to reviewing the most up to date facts and implications of peak oil, which has been described as the most challenging issue facing our society today. We also provide invaluable information that will give a framework for an enhanced risk assessment procedure in all areas of council business, from strategic planning to transport infrastructure, to food and emergency planning.

How is it delivered? Two of our TTandC practitioners will work with you to tailor the workshop to suit your particular situation and needs. Typically, the workshop is then delivered over half a day.

Who would benefit? The analysis and information that Transition Local Authorities provides is vital for assessing the assumptions that underpin your strategic plans. Energy prices and availability potentially affect every aspect of your organisation. This workshop is a valuable tool for all decision makers, partners, and planners. It is also valuable for climate change officers and those engaged in Resilience Forums.

Please contact us to discuss your needs further.
